Staff Feature: Beth, Human Resources

Meet Beth, SHRM-CP, PHR

Beth has managed human resources(HR) at Tully Hill since 2006. She handles the everyday challenges of an HR manager with ease and compassion towards her coworkers.

How did you become an HR professional?

After graduating college I worked in retail as a store manager. After several years of working evenings, weekends and holidays that are required in retail I decided to make a career change. The best part of my job was the people so it made sense to look for an HR position. I accepted an entry-level HR position to gain some experience, obtained my HR certification and was able to work my way up into a manager level position.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I love that each and every day is different. On any given day I could be drafting or revising policy, handling benefits administration, interviewing and hiring new staff, advising managers re: employee issues, etc, etc. There is never a dull moment!

What do you do in your spare time?

I have two teenage daughters (ages 15 & 13) so there is never any “spare” time these days. The girls keep us busy with their school and volunteer activities. They are both runners so my husband and I spend lots of time traveling to cross country and track meets to cheer for them and their teammates. Their Cross Country team is currently ranked #1 in New York State. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for a state championship this year!
